Title: Phinens Gage
Author: John Fleischman

Genre: Non-fiction/biography

Phinens Gage work on the rail road in 1848, and he had a trouble accident that lead to a discovery’s about the brain. Phinens Gage was a foreman who survived an explosion despite having an awful brain injury. Phinens made a “complete recovery” and went on to have many jobs and travel the world. It changes him forever, and also change how people though about the brain.

The theme of the book is about luck. The author thinks that Phinens is lucky and I agree because he went on to different places. He also got to meet new people, and die with his family around.

I like the narrative parts describing his recovery and telling about the jobs he had. What I didn’t like was that I couldn’t understand all of the medical terms used. Over all it is a good book, and I give it four stars. I would recommend it to people who want to learn about the brain.
